Our Work

creating jobs. strengthening communities.

Through the Double Impact Initiative, Breaktime creates transitional employment opportunities for young adults experiencing homelessness in Greater Boston while providing help and support for underserved communities.

How We're Doubling Our Impact

Even in these difficult times, the power of compassion and kindness can have an enormous impact on our communities. Through our Double Impact Initiative, the Breaktime family is ready to help our communities thrive once again while providing employment to those who need it most. Find out what we're doing to help below.

Our associates at Breaktime prepare and distribute tons of fresh produce and groceries to food-insecure populations across Boston each week. By working with grassroots community partners, we have rapidly scaled our operations to further support the food resilience of our community. This new opportunity also enables our young adults to further develop leadership, operational, and logistics experience as they work purposefully to support their community.

career readiness

Breaktime provides 3-6 months of paid transitional employment to young adults experiencing homelessness. Our program bridges the gap between a foundational job training program and the broader workforce by empowering young adults with a job in which they can put their skills into practice, work with a team, and earn money.

As part of this program, we connect our associates with housing, health, and education resources. Furthermore, we support our young adults in applying for and securing their next job or educational opportunity.

The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated food-insecurity throughout Massachusetts. Together with partners at Community Work Services, we produce and serve thousands of nutritious meals each week to support both our communities and heroic healthcare and shelter workers across Boston

how we're

keeping our team safe

The safety and well-being of our team members and meal recipients is our top priority. Breaktime ensures that all team members are provided with stable, single-unit housing at shelters. In our kitchen and on our deliveries, we follow rigorous safety and sanitization procedures.
